Show Notes

The Importance of Putting Your Ideas Out as Quickly as You Can

Brendan urges everyone that if you have an idea, you have to put it out there as soon as possible. Don’t be afraid to embrace failure and experimentation because he has made so many mistakes over the years but he used this to learn. Even without a formal business education, he was able to grow by asking questions and making mistakes time after time, over and over. So if you have a hypothesis, get it out there as quickly as you can to test those assumptions because you will learn so much from those toe-dipping experiments that you will do. Some people want to put it out there once it’s perfect and thereby it takes them a hard time to get over.

Finding a Mentor

It’s important to find mentors as early as possible. If you can align yourself with people who had been there and done that, see what works and what doesn’t, you can learn from their successes and so much from their failures. Finding a mentor is a tricky thing but in our field, everyone wants to see each other succeed – this is what differentiates us from other sectors. In the entrepreneurial space, we have this earn and return mentality so just reach out to people. If there is someone that you would love to have a conversation with, reach out and just ask for that advice. You need to find a way to get introduced to people because people are willing to help, you just need to ask.
