Coming Up with New Keywords
From an ASO perspective, John was doing well for “hours worked” so I advised that he also utilize the Spanish Mexico localization. We talked about having a different app name in this App Store, for example, his subtitle is ‘app tracking’ so he can use this as the app name in this localization and arrive with ‘Hours Worked Time Tracking’ as the app name. I tend to repeat my US subtitle in the Spanish Mexico localization to double down.
In finding related keywords, you can also use tools such as One Look. Once you get words which you want to target, you can load them into Sensor Tower to see how it is performing in terms of traffic and competition. You can then have ideas to play with if you want to change your app name.
Making More Money with a Paid App
After looking at the keywords and working on your ASO to maximize the potential, my advice is to modify your screenshots to emphasize features and benefits of the app. When you are ready and have updated the app, I would urge to run a paid-to-free campaign. The strategy entails making your app free for one day only, getting press for it by pitching to journalist and then make it paid again the next day. You can also play around with the pricing to see if that works better once you go back to being paid.
