How do you launch an app with a huge idea behind it like a social networking app, a new spin on an existing technology or a new directory? My recommendation is to always start small and hustle your butt off. Sometimes, we forget the early struggles of big brands such as Uber, Air BnB and just see their massive success. At times, we want to go so big, so fast.
The biggest mismatch I see when people come to me with big app ideas is what they want: grow it big and sell it; or have the app as a lifestyle business. If it’s the latter, then find a different category but if you want to raise money and succeed, then go after the big ideas. But bear in mind that if you have a huge idea, it takes time. Start small – a certain segment or city maybe – then expand. These are critical ingredients.
Also, if you put all your eggs in this basket, make sure you have other ways of generating income for you to survive as people will only invest once you have a track record and traction.
